The chia plant, scientifically known as Salvia hispanica L., is a summer flowering plant in southern Mexico. Some of its benefits: -Its seeds, from which the oil is extracted, are considered rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and therefore, according to research, help to inhibit the growth of cancerous tumors. -One of their most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acids is α-linolenic acid, which the body cannot synthesize on its own. -The chia oil helps relieve diarrhea, allergies and digestive problems. -Its antioxidant, antimicrobial, antihypertensive and cardioprotective properties are also remarkable. -Recent studies confirm its contribution to weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes.
